Candace Enman, CPA, CA, CMC

President

Candace is the President of Welch Capital Partners, where she runs a successful M&A, Valuation, Virtual CFO and Advisory Services Practice that helps business owners think & act strategically in their companies – assisting owners in managing their growth objectives, preparing their business for an upcoming transition and buying and selling companies. She is focused on improving the value in small and medium sized enterprises, by ensuring that their profits are both sustainable and transferable.

Candace has more than 15 years of financial and management experience. After obtaining her CPA, CA designation in 1999, she spent 10 years in Senior Finance and Management roles, which allowed her to go beyond keeping score. She has played key roles in all aspects of growing a business, including new system implementations, evaluation of new business opportunities, implementing human resource practices and policies and providing sound advice to business owners. Candace believes that successful businesses do more than keep score. They build value from the ground up and she brings that philosophy to all of her engagements.


Stephan May, MBA

Managing Director, M&A

Stephan May, MBA, is the Managing Director of Welch Capital Partners. He brings years of experience in M&A, debt capital, private equity, advisory and restructuring services. Stephan works with companies to maximize their value and ensure a smooth transition process, whether through buying or selling your company, financing or restructuring.

Prior to Welch Capital Partners, Stephan held roles as the Managing Director for Storeyworks, a boutique finance advisory firm and the Director of Corporate Development for TUC Brands (Now Fully Managed IT) where he was responsible for all corporate development, which included, M&A, partnerships, and corporate finance. In 2012/13, TUC grew by way of acquisition, winning the title of “Fastest Growing Company” in Ottawa two years in a row.

Stephan is a regular guest speaker at Telfer School of Business and the Carleton University. He Chairs a worldwide corporate finance leadership group, and he is currently participating on a corporate finance working group with CPA Canada to further develop the profession. In 2015, Stephan was a recipient of the Top 40 under 40 award.


Adam Nihmey, CFA, CBV

Managing Director, Valuations

Adam joined WelchGroup in 2018 as our Managing Director, Valuation & Litigation Support.

Adam is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) and previously was President of Capacity Financial Consulting Inc., a boutique business valuation and transaction advisory firm (which was acquired by WelchGroup in 2018).

Adam’s expertise in business valuations spans close to 15 years, working previously at PricewaterhouseCoopers and various other firms with the focus on valuations and strategic acquisitions. Adam has valued numerous companies for M&A, tax, financial reporting, commercial and family litigation. Adam has also acted as virtual CFO for various start-up companies.

Adam is also the Volunteer Founder and Chairman of the Eldercare Foundation of Ottawa (www.eldercarefoundation.ca), an Ottawa-based charity that provides funding, programs and support to enhance the lives of seniors living in non-profit long-term care homes.


Cody Sorensen, MBA

Director of M&A

Cody Sorensen, MBA, joined Welch Capital Partners as Senior M&A Associate in 2016, following regional office and business banking roles at a Big Five financial institution. Cody graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Economics and obtained his MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University in 2016.

With a passion for high-performance, Cody spent seven years competing as a member of the Canadian National Bobsleigh Team and competed in the Sochi Olympics in 2014. In 2010, he was named the Ontario Male athlete of the year.

Cody currently sits on the Board of Directors for Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton and is a member of the Athlete Advisory Committee for the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation. Cody also devotes time to volunteering with several local charities and is a recent recipient of the Community Volunteer of the Year award for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Ottawa.


Bruce Raganold

Director of Business Development

With over fifteen years of experience in maximizing the value companies get from their accounting, tax and business advisor relationships; Bruce’s role is to represent and grow business for Welch LLP and WelchGroup Consulting in the Ottawa and Toronto markets and also help our clients become more successful. He does this by working to develop long term relationships between the people of Welch and the businesses in our community, and finding ways for himself and the firm to add value at every step.

Bruce graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Commerce. Prior to joining Welch, he held senior business development positions at a large international accounting firm and in the high tech industry. In 2005 Bruce was named one of Ottawa’s Top Forty under 40.

Community minded, Bruce is very passionate about Ottawa and things that can make our great city even better. He’s currently on the board of directors of the Canadian Club of Ottawa, as well as the Ottawa Film Office, and on the organizing committee for the Ronald McDonald House Corporate Skifest (since 2005), and a member of the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation Cabinet Committee.
